Dive into Malta’s Maritime History with Heritage Malta’s Dive into History 360˚
Get to know more about Malta’s underwater cultural heritage together with members from the Underwater Cultural Heritage Unit. In a short 20-minute presentation, the team will first introduce the participants to maritime archaeology in Malta then explain how underwater cultural heritage is discovered, studied and shared with the public. The presentation is followed by the use of Virtual Reality headsets where participants will be taken on a virtual dive to some of Malta’s historic wrecks. Each session lasts approximately 45 minutes to an hour and aims to:
- introduce students to interesting yet viable career paths
- inform students about underwater cultural heritage and Heritage Malta’s work on these historic sites,
- allow students to virtually access real, deepwater historic sites around the Maltese islands
